Hey Babe,Take a walk on the wildside, Figure & Portrait
Hey Babe,Take a walk on the wildside
For years I have been drawn to the painting of The Goldfinch by Dutch Golden Age artist Carel Fabritius

Fabritius was a student of Rembrandt and it is thought likely that he influenced Vermeer who was painting in Delft around that time. Perhaps Fabritius is the Link between Rembrandt and Vermeer?

Every picture tells a story and I was inspired to present the Goldfinch in a more modern scene.
I imagined the Goldfinch in my story with a model who looks as if she may be a character from a Lou Reed Song.
I endeavored to expand the juxtaposition between Old Master and modern subject, utilizing bird and cat imagery to enhance the tension.
While searching for a title I was inspired by the Music of Lou Reed , which succinctly named this painting for me “Hey Babe, take a walk on the Wild Side”
