I saw Shell in the Botanic gardens in Christchurch & immediately knew I needed to paint her. I build up some courage to ask her if she would mind me taking her photo to paint & at the same time I asked she was looking for someone to take her photo & asked if I would mind taking her photo. We both laughed & accepted. She was beautiful to paint especially in her incredibly interesting dress.
