This painting is inspired by the Lumbee River in North Carolina. It is the historical homelands of the ancestors of the current Lumbee Tribe. When I return home to this river I often wonder what stories this land and water could tell, which is represented by the burnt sienna color peaking underneath at the bottom. I used oil paint and cold wax medium to layer the colors and create textures.
