A New Dream

Sometimes our plans get derailed for heartbreaking reasons that we can't explain. Loss in all its forms brings opportunity for reflection and with it the search for a new dream. This piece was inspired by such loss for myself this past winter and the realization that if I look long and hard enough, a new dream will motivate me to keep pushing through this time in our lives. I am quite sure personal growth will also ensue. It always does! A grisaille underpainting followed by several layers of color were used to create the atmospheric depth using the medium of gamsol and a little linseed oil from time to time. Gamlin's quick-drying white was used as well to speed up drying time.
